Lanark Heights residents treated to special spa day

Lanark Heights residents enjoyed a day of relaxation and pampering thanks to a unique spa program organized by the Kitchener long-term care community’s life enrichment team.

In honour of Mother’s Day, team members organized a day that offered residents a complete spa experience, from refreshing beverages to soothing treatments and pampering activities.

Lanark Heights launched a spa program in late 2025, and the team decided this would be a perfect event to bring back for residents, says Karla Verdesoto, Lanark Heights’ life enrichment manager.

“Residents enjoyed mimosas, tea, complimentary face masks, aromatherapy, manicures and many other relaxing touches throughout the day,” she tells S&R Today.

“We wanted to truly pamper our dear residents with a full spa retreat experience.”

To make the experience even more unique for residents, team members hosted games with the winner receiving a personalized fan and a special thank-you note, Karla says.

Karla adds that during the days leading up to the event, team members organized programs for residents to work on crafts that were incorporated into the spa day. Some of the crafts residents worked on included making personalized cups and floral crowns that they wore.

Residents’ family members were also invited to the event to share the day with their loved ones, Karla notes, adding that staff worked together to make the day a success.

“The full life enrichment team came together to create a warm and pampering experience for our residents,” she says.

“It was a beautiful day filled with relaxation, laughter and meaningful moments. … Everyone truly loved it.”
