Delicious refreshments and musical entertainment highlighted the special Mother’s Day event the Rosewood Village team organized for the Sarnia seniors living community’s residents this year.
The high-tea social featured lots of tea – both regular and iced – as well as pinwheel wraps and cookies. The Sisters of Choice, a trio that specializes in music from the 1940s through to the 1970s, provided entertainment for the event, which drew a large crowd of residents and guests.
After the social, Alex Doornbosch, the Village’s fun co-ordinator, and Susan Maw, the executive director, went around the room handing out carnations to all the women living at Rosewood.
“This was a time for our home to really come together – and we sure did,” Alex tells S&R Today.
All residents living at Rosewood Village were invited to the event, and many brought their daughters and daughters-in-law, Alex notes, adding many of the men living at the Village also participated.
“Every chair was filled and every face was smiling,” she says. “I couldn’t have asked for a better turnout, entertainment group or people to share this space with.”
Alex says this year’s Mother’s Day celebration was an all-around success and she is already looking forward to next year’s event.
“It was a very happy event and one I will sure be looking forward to next year,” she says.
Mother’s Day is an important event every year at S&R Group seniors living and long-term care communities, with team members organizing teas, dinners and other events to celebrate the mothers living in their communities.
