Village on the Thames residents recently enjoyed a Hawaiian-themed celebration when a luau brought music, dancing and refreshments to the Chatham-Kent seniors living community.
Hawaiian luaus are one of Isabel Tatoiu’s many specialties, and the entertainer proved to be a big hit with residents and team members during the celebration, says Diamond Zelina, the Village’s fun co-ordinator.
Isabel has hosted luaus at the Village on the Thames before, always to enthusiastic fanfare. Her events feature themed dancing, singing, costumes and music that immerse everyone in the experience of the theme.
On her website, Isabel explains her approach to performing.
“My shows are high energy, visually stimulating, unique in content, and lots of fun with opportunities for audience participation,” she says.
In addition to luaus, Isabel also hosts 1950s rock ‘n’ roll parties, Mardi Gras celebrations and Cinco de Mayo events.
The Village on the Thames luau offered residents tropical food, a themed pub, vibrant decorations and plenty of “Hawaiian fun,” Diamond notes.
Residents and team members dressed in their favourite Hawaiian-style clothing, soaking up the festive atmosphere, she adds.
“Everyone dressed up and it was a lot of fun,” Diamond says.
