The first senior social at Twin Lakes Village welcomed both residents and prospective residents for an afternoon of floral bouquet-making over high tea.
These socials are designed to give those considering a move to Twin Lakes Village a chance to meet residents and experience daily life at the Sarnia seniors living community.
The Aug. 13 event was led by Chelsea, a local flower vendor and a friend of Twin Lakes Village executive director Vi Archer. Chelsea brought flowers from her own garden, explains Gina McNally, the Village’s fun co-ordinator.
“She had a variety of flowers, from snapdragons to zinnias, for residents to make their own beautiful, personalized bouquets to have in their rooms,” Gina tells S&R Today.
With some of the extra flowers, Twin Lakes Village team members created bouquets to have around the Village to bring some bright colours into the common areas for everyone to enjoy, Gina adds.
During the floral arranging social, musical entertainment was provided by Lise Michaud, and fresh-baked raisin scones, along with a variety of herbal teas, were served to residents and guests in the Village’s fine china cups.
Gina underscores the value the senior socials, a new initiative launched by S&R seniors living division, can bring to the S&R Group’s seniors living communities.
“Senior socials are monthly events senior living homes are doing to get prospective residents to come in and see our home and join in on the fun we have around our homes,” she says.
Twin Lakes Village’s next senior social will be a watercolour painting class on Sept. 10.
