Waterloo Heights' 2025 fundraiser is off to an impressive start

In recent weeks, Waterloo Heights residents have donated enough food to the Food Bank of Waterloo Region to make 76 meals – and things are just getting started.

The residents of the Waterloo, Ont. seniors living community have chosen the food bank to be the beneficiary of their 2025 fundraising efforts.

Most of the items donated so far have included canned goods and cereal, says Waterloo Heights activity director Jacqui Metzloff.

In addition to the donated non-perishable food, residents have given the food bank $100 to purchase in-demand items that are not regularly donated.

Waterloo Heights residents elect a charity every year to raise money for throughout the following 12 months.

In 2024, Waterloo Heights residents chose the Lisaard & Innisfree Hospice as their beneficiary. Throughout the year, residents raised $4,710 for the hospice by hosting a variety of fundraising events.

One of Waterloo Heights’ flagship annual fundraising events will be held April 4 and is expected to take this year’s fundraising campaign to another level, Jacqui says.

“We will soon be holding our fashion show, which will be the biggest fundraiser of the year for the food bank,” she says.
