A resident at the Village on the Thames with a special birthday was treated to a cake that her family brought in for everyone to share on Oct. 22.
Louise Reid turned 102 that day, and after she cut her cake, slices were handed out to her fellow residents, family members and staff at the Chatham-Kent seniors living community.
Making her birthday even more special was a musical performance from resident Ivor Misselbrook, who a talented musician who never misses an opportunity to entertain everyone at the Village.
Another resident, Theresa, was also celebrating her 88th birthday that day, so Ivor performed for her as well, notes Diamond Zelina, the Village on the Thames’ fun co-ordinator.
Diamond says there was a festive atmosphere in the Village’s activity room as everyone celebrated the birthdays.
“We all came together to celebrate this special day together,” she tells S&R Today.
Diamond says it’s a big deal at the Village to have a resident who’s a centenarian, so everyone wanted to help Louise celebrate her special day.
“It’s not every day someone turns 102,” she says. “Louise is a very sweet and kind woman. Her family was very touched by all the love from us.”
