Backpack Challenge
Waterloo Heights residents participated in the Waterloo Regional Police backpack Challenge this year. This program, run by WRPS, encourages the community to purchase new backpacks, school supplies, lunch bags, and gift cards to be donated to children from families in need. It ensures kids go back to school prepared and with confidence. Our residents jumped on board right away when we started collecting items for the program, and we ended up filling 9 new backpacks with fun school supplies. Residents had fun looking at the different designs availble for notebooks and other supplies, like kittens, dinosaurs or sports themes. Fun designs like that weren't availble when our seniors went to school. While this was Waterloo Heights first year participaing in the Backpack challenge in won't be the last. This is the fifth year the WRPS has been runnin the program, and they have collected over 7000 backpacks from the Kitchener-Waterloo area since it started.
